In collaboration with the Homer Glen Junior Women's Club, Young School and Goodings Grove School are taking part in The Crayon Initiative this school year, which melts donated crayons down and presses them into new crayons to give to children's hospitals across the country. Photos submitted
It has been estimated that a 20-pound box of crayons yields enough to give 125 children an eight-pack of crayons at hospitals nationwide.
