When it comes to badminton, Lincoln-Way West and Lockport Township traditionally have two of the best programs in the area, and they are evenly matched this season. That showed as the two schools met twice in a span of four days, the second of which was in a quadrangular meet — which also included Joliet Central and Joliet West — April 4 in Lockport.

Although the Porters won the SouthWest Suburban Blue tournament Saturday, Jan. 23, the team still lost the overall conference title to Joliet West.

Lockport (6,289) won the SWSC Blue tournament at Orland Bowl in Orland Park by 118 pins over Joliet West. But the Tigers went undefeated in the regular season and only needed a second-place finish in the tournament to earn the overall title.
