It was not exactly the crime of the century, just a little bit odd. In making a recent attempt to clean out the garage, I came upon a bunch of old documents, junk mail, pictures and the like that I decided to toss. You should know that in our home we reference “the big black bags of death” as code for “Mom is thinning out the accumulation of junk again” — all of which is entirely my fault. I am an accumulator, she, my loving and patient wife, is not.

Area children officially are now ready to head back to school. Publisher 22nd Century Media hosted its third annual Back on the Bus – A Back-To-School Expo to celebrate the start of a new school year with families at the Tinley Park Convention Center Saturday, Aug. 13. The free expo offered scholastic resources, princess and mascot appearances, a back-to-school fashion show, booths for more than 40 vendors and more. Free parking and free gift bags were offered to the first 500 attendees.
