When it comes to badminton, Lincoln-Way West and Lockport Township traditionally have two of the best programs in the area, and they are evenly matched this season. That showed as the two schools met twice in a span of four days, the second of which was in a quadrangular meet — which also included Joliet Central and Joliet West — April 4 in Lockport.

Harley, also known as Carter, is a 2-year-old male lab mix. He is happy, loving and will make a wonderful companion. He is playful and gets along with children and other dogs. Lincoln-Way North softball’s senior second baseman Taylor Bowman has been clutch this season for the Phoenix, helping the team to an undefeated run to start the season and delivering big hits to win the likes of the Zaxby’s Classic. The hard work has paid off in more ways than one, as she recently earned the title of Athlete of the Month by garnering the most votes for the May recognition from 22nd Century Media Southwest.

TLC Animal Shelter, Homer Glen Here is Oreo a beautiful neutered male cat who is in need of a home. He is good with children and good with dogs too! His owner had asthma so he reluctantly had to bring Oreo to the shelter.

Fresh off a win in the Pekin Sectional, the Celtics entered the boys state tournament among the favorites to win it. 

Instead, the team finished tied for eighth (630), 37 strokes behind Hinsdale Central, which won its fifth straight Class 3A state championship by shooting a 593 between Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington.

Homer Glen resident Diane Wojowski shared this photograph she snapped while at Maggie Daley Park in Chicago this summer. Wojowski said the picture shows the monarch butterfly, Illinois’ state insect, on a plant in the nature gardens of the park. The city’s high-rise buildings serve as the backdrop.
