A small, freshly planted Norway spruce tree sat not far from the window in plain sight for all attendees to see. Despite the overcast skies and downpour helping nourish the baby evergreen, the mood Oct. 26 inside Homer Glen’s Village Hall remained full of sunny optimism for the future, as the community celebrated the building and its grounds with a ribbon cutting and tree planting ceremony. Village officials both past and present, along with various locals, were on-hand for the festivities, which included cutting a red ribbon over the desk in the lobby of the building and on a dedication plaque by the main entrance.
