For all the talk about the wars in the trenches, the toughness of the players, the battles over turf, etc., the game of football comes down to one thing: Making plays. In its most recent game, the Lockport Township football team simply did not make enough plays, while Thornton did. The Wildcats made one big play, and it was enough to hand Lockport a disheartening 7-6 loss in the Porters' SouthWest Suburban Conference opener on Friday, Sept. 8, at Lockport.
