Lockport’s hustle couldn’t overcome its poor shooting as the Porters fell to Bolingbrook 61-42 on Friday, Jan. 8, in the first game of the girls and boys varsity hoops doubleheader at Lockport Central Campus.

Dolores A. Dzikowski (nee Obiala), 92, of Homer Glen, died March 11. She is survived by her children, Lynn (John) McGary and Stephen Dzikowski. Services are set to be held April 2 at Our Lady of the Woods Church in Orland Park.

An increase in Lockport Township High School’s graduation rate and an evaluation of the school’s Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers dominated discussion Dec. 21 at the District 205 Board of Education regular meeting.

Superintendent Todd Wernet and Assistant Superintendent Brett Gould presented the 2015 Illinois District Report Card to the Board of Education. The report card included data related to the district’s financial status, graduation rates and PARCC test results.

Thursday: ‘Frozen’ Sing-A-Long: 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28, Homer Township Public Library, 14320 W. 151st St., Homer Glen. There will be a showing of the movie along with subtitles and lyrics shown so participants can sing along with the songs. Attendees are encouraged to wear “Frozen” costumes, but it is not required. There were some good plays, there were some errors, there were a lot of things crammed into a two-hour plus first game. But there was also a lot of things that showed why the two competing softball teams are always among the best in the area.

The streaker came, and the streak continued. In the bottom of the sixth inning of the Thursday, May 25, regional semifinal baseball game, a streaker jumped over the right-field fence, ran around for a few moments and jumped back over the fence.
