Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service

5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. Cross of Glory hosts the ecumenical Thanksgiving service sponsored by the Lockport-Homer Area Ministerial Association. Pastor Dana will preach, the CoG band will play and there will be communion. The church will also collect donations of non-perishable foods.

We were simply astonished by the high quality and quantity of the entries we received, making it yet another difficult (but fun) contest to judge.

Clarence Mulder was an 86-year-old World War II veteran who died in 2009. Mulder, who received the Purple Heart, was buried in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. When his wife, Agnes, died this March at 89, she was buried with him.

TLC Animal Shelter, Homer Glen

Herman is a neutered male Chihuahua mix, who came to the shelter with a spayed female Chihuahua mix named Mortisha. They are both housebroken and very friendly. They are about 7 years old. The shelter would like to see them adopted together if at all possible.
