Things were looking bleak for the Celtics at their home meet against Marist on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Marist’s Olamide Oladeji beat Providence’s Juan Bazaldua 6-3 by a decision in the 132-pound weight class to put Marist up 32-21 on Providence with just two matches remaining. The Celtics needed two consecutive pins to come away with the win — and that’s exactly what they got.

It took just seconds for Mike Vennetti to give Providence something it never had before and will definitely never forget – the Kennedy Cup.

Vennetti’s overtime goal, just 23 seconds into the extra period, lifted the Celtics to a 4-3 victory over Benet Academy Saturday, March 8, at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge.

The Celtics swept the best-of-3 Kennedy Cup finals as they also picked up a 6-5 victory Thursday, March 6, at Arctic Ice Arena in Orland Park.

Oak Prairie Junior High held a Welcome to School ColorSplash for the students at the end of the first week of school on Aug. 28. Over half of the students attended this event, as numbers reached 300 students.

The event was put together and sponsored by the school’s student council, and planning started last year. Kyle Jacobson and Kerry Paulin, student council sponsors, used their summer break to ensure all the details and supplies where ready to go for the first welcome back to school event.
